Kohima: A delegation from the Naga Students' Federation met with Ajit Lal in New Delhi this past Thursday. Lal serves as the Advisor for the Northeast to the Ministry of Home Affairs. The student group demanded a faster pace for the Naga peace process. They want a conclusion that is both logical and early. The stakes are high.
The delegation insisted that the government must remain sensitive to the deep-seated emotions and legitimate aspirations of the Naga people. They appealed to the Advisor to "sincerely" carry forward the ongoing peace talks. This meeting reaffirms a collective demand for a political settlement to a conflict that has dragged on for decades.
Violence remains a major concern. The students briefed the Advisor on the unrest in the region, specifically pointing to the Naga-Kuki conflict. They called for immediate action to restore normalcy, peace, and stability. Time is running out for the region.
Ajit Lal is a former Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau. He listened to the group during the meeting. Lal assured the delegation that he would look into the matters they raised. The federation views this discussion as a significant step toward their long-standing goal of a political resolution.
