Kohima: The Naga Students Federation wants Dr. A. Elayaperumal out. They submitted a formal demand to the Ministry of Education on August 25, citing criminal charges and systemic failure at NIT Nagaland. The Director faces an FIR linked to a ghost faculty scandal at Anna University. Reports of his involvement surfaced in the national press on November 15, 2025.
Students are stuck in limbo. The school has not held a convocation since 2023. Graduates still wait for their degrees, which blocks them from jobs and higher education. The Federation said, "This prolonged delay is adversely affecting students’ employment, higher education, competitive examinations and professional opportunities."
Governance has collapsed. The Director has not held a Board of Governors meeting in ten months. Official records for 2024-25 and 2025-26 are missing. Projects are stalling. Infrastructure is failing. The group also questions if he ever secured the proper vigilance clearance or a no-objection certificate from Anna University before taking the job.
Chaos persists in the administration. Dr. Manoj E. Prabhakar remains at the institute despite being suspended by the Board of Governors on August 5, 2026. The Chairman cited incompetency and failure to perform duties as the reasons for the suspension, yet the Registrar keeps showing up to work. The Federation demands his immediate removal.
The Ministry has 30 days to act. The students want the Director fired and the Registrar gone. They need the school back on track.
