Kohima: The Naga Students’ Federation formally asked President Droupadi Murmu to intervene in the ongoing Manipur conflict. They delivered a memorandum to Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav on Thursday. The move follows a candlelight vigil in Kohima held to honor six Naga civilians killed after being abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13. Search crews found their remains on June 10 near a Kuki-Zo village.
Federation leaders submitted a detailed report alongside their plea. The document tracks their fact-finding mission conducted between June 4 and 6. They interviewed displaced families, church representatives, and youth volunteers to document property destruction and violence. The group demands accountability for these deaths to secure future stability in the region.
"The families of the six slain Naga civilians, along with other affected residents, deserved prompt attention and concrete action from the authorities," the Federation stated. They want the President to review their findings and strengthen protection for residents. The mission aims to restore order and safety for Naga communities living in the shadow of the state’s violence.
