Mokokchung Farmers Get Vermicompost Units to Boost Crop Yield

Kohima: The Mokokchung department of Soil and Water Conservation just finished building 35 vermicompost structures in Ungma village. The project uses funding from NABARD under the CSLDP 2025 26 initiative. Officials hosted a training session at the DSCO conference hall to show beneficiaries how to manage the sites. Experts say this method beats old farmyard manure every time.

"Vermicompost is far superior to traditional farmyard manure," experts told the group. The worms help soil stay wet and grow more crops. After the training, workers handed out high quality worms to get the organic farms running. Officials want local growers to ditch old habits for these eco friendly practices to keep productivity up.
