Aizawl: Mizoram has reached a significant milestone in its electoral preparation, successfully digitizing enumeration forms for more than 8.75 lakh voters. This figure accounts for approximately 95.53 percent of the state electorate and comes as part of an ongoing Special Intensive Revision exercise.
State Joint Chief Electoral Officer Ethel Rothangpuii confirmed that the project is progressing steadily across all 11 districts. Three districts, including Champhai, Serchhip, and Khawzawl, have already achieved full completion with 100 percent of their forms processed. Meanwhile, Siaha and Saitual are trailing closely behind at nearly 100 percent completion rates. Aizawl, which holds the largest concentration of voters in the state, currently reports the lowest progress at 90.75 percent.
Launched on May 20, the initiative focuses on updating voter data and correcting discrepancies to bolster the integrity of the state database. Election authorities established a June 28 deadline to finalize the enumeration phase. Reflecting on the timeline, election officials stated that the revision process is progressing smoothly and expressed confidence that the remaining digitisation work will be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The Election Commission has adjusted the release date for the draft electoral roll as a result of a request from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer. The document is now scheduled for publication on July 4, one day earlier than the initial plan. Officials believe these efforts will improve transparency and ensure an accurate database for future elections.
