Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma declared that merit-based hiring has rebuilt youth trust in the state government. He spoke Saturday at the Police Training School in Thenzawl during the passing-out parade for the 70th police constable batch. The selection process required no political favors or influence from ministers. All 275 recruits earned their spots through fair competition.
These graduates include 26 women. Official records show 198 constables joined the Armed Branch, 51 entered the Unarmed Branch, eight went to the Mechanical Branch, and 18 received appointments on compassionate grounds. Lalduhoma told the new officers: "We expect qualified personnel to deliver quality service to our state." He promised the government will keep rejecting unqualified candidates.
Home Minister K. Sapdanga and DGP Sharad Agarwal watched the ceremony. The Chief Minister warned the new officers against alcohol abuse. Past personnel lost their lives to addiction, and he demanded better behavior. He also promised to modernize the force to fight new crime types. He expects the police to serve with integrity and enforce the law without bias to keep society peaceful.
