Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has hailed All India Radio as a vital platform for connecting Zo communities and preserving cultural heritage. Speaking at an event in Aizawl celebrating the broadcaster’s 90th anniversary, Lalduhoma described the institution as a trusted voice that helps maintain social ties across regional and international borders.

The Chief Minister credited the broadcaster for its commitment to the Mizo language, noting that it serves as a model for proper linguistic usage. He emphasized the station's historical impact, particularly in Mizoram, where it operated as a crucial information source during periods of insurgency and restricted movement. Lalduhoma remarked, "The broadcaster has played a significant role in safeguarding Mizo cultural heritage, history and important records for future generations."

Beyond its local influence, the network remains a cornerstone of Indian media. It broadcasts in 23 languages and over 146 dialects, reaching listeners in more than 100 countries. Citing the Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2024, the Chief Minister noted that Akashvani News is currently ranked as the most trusted news source in India.

AIR Mizoram Director DR Lalropuia also attended the event, pointing out that the network continues to evolve despite rapid shifts in digital technology. He highlighted the broadcaster's ongoing efforts to align with the government's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision by acting as a bridge between citizens and public services. Since its inception on June 8, 1936, the network has maintained its status as a key pillar of national integration and information delivery.
