Guwahati: Kolasib and Cachar district officials met Tuesday to iron out plans for an inter-state border festival. The event hits Vairengte on October 30. Expect sports and culture.
Kolasib Deputy Commissioner H. Dolianbuaia and Cachar Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Gupta gathered at the Cachar DC conference hall. They signed off on an itinerary featuring futsal, badminton, volleyball, and table tennis. Cultural shows will highlight regional ethnic diversity.
The meeting went beyond games. The officials pledged to work together on development, peace, and security. They also took aim at local drug trafficking. Law enforcement is tightening the net.
Kolasib Superintendent of Police Lalrinpuia Varte and Cachar counterpart Partha Protim Das held sidebar talks. They focused on "closer coordination in law enforcement and measures to combat drug trafficking across their respective jurisdictions." This partnership seeks to stabilize the volatile border region through persistent, joint administrative oversight.
