Guwahati: Patharkandi police recovered seven autorickshaws stolen from various locations in the Sribhumi district. Officers tracked the vehicles across the border into Mizoram. They found the stash without registration numbers.
A team led by officer-in-charge Biswajyoti Deuri executed the mission. They acted on a tip-off. The officers moved into Mizoram on Monday and searched two distinct sites with local help. They returned the vehicles to the Patharkandi Police Station the next day. The recovery followed clear orders from Sribhumi Superintendent of Police Lina Doley.
The force has yet to make any arrests. Investigators continue to hunt for the thieves behind the recent spike in local thefts. Deuri considers the operation a major win for the department. Describing the success of the mission, Deuri said, "The recovery of seven autorickshaws from Mizoram is being treated as a significant breakthrough in the investigation."
