MITE Kohima Students Survey Tuophema Village

Kohima: Student-teachers from the Modern Institute of Teacher Education in Kohima descended on Tuophema village on October 24. They worked under the direction of the school's Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell. This extension programme focused on grassroots data collection and community engagement.

Third-semester B.Ed. students conducted a baseline household survey. They tracked essential socio-economic indicators across the village. The data collection covered migration status, family info, and power supply. They also logged specific details on water sources, landholding patterns, agricultural output, and livestock resources. The survey assessed how effectively residents use government welfare schemes.

The students doubled as field guides. They spent the day interacting with locals to clear up confusion regarding state services. They broke down complex eligibility rules and benefit structures for the villagers. Zuchano M. Patton, the UBA coordinator, oversaw the entire mission. She provided the student-teachers with "detailed orientation and guidance" to ensure the day ran smoothly.
