Kohima: Students from the Modern Institute of Teacher Education in Kohima descended on Tuophema village this Saturday. They arrived under the banner of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Cell to conduct a baseline household survey. The B.Ed. third-semester student-teachers spent the day interviewing residents to capture a clear picture of local socio-economic conditions.
The team tracked everything from migration status and water access to energy usage and landholdings. They also cataloged agricultural output and livestock counts while auditing how families use state and central government programs. The field work served a dual purpose. It provided raw data and gave villagers a chance to ask questions about eligibility for various benefits.
UBA Coordinator Zuchano M. Patton prepped the students before the drive. She ensured the effort met the specific national objectives set for Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The initiative focuses on enriching rural communities through direct institutional support.
MITE faculty and the principal oversaw the operation throughout the day. They held high-level discussions with the Tuophema village council, student union leaders, and youth organizations. These meetings sought to pin down the primary issues hindering local development. As noted in the official press release, the interaction aimed to ensure the community is "better equipped to access state and central resources."
