Shillong: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress held an induction ceremony for new West Jaintia Hills District Youth Congress officials this Saturday. MPCC president Vincent H Pala attended the event at Marian Hill Hall in Jowai to oversee the changing of the guard.
Rishot Thubru takes the reins as district president. He will work alongside vice-president Leo Samati, general secretary Joe Dickinson Siangshai, and assistant general secretary Richard Lakiang. The team faces immediate pressure to organize.
The committee assignments cover a wide range of administrative duties. Bormi Phawa and Emlangmi Mynso will run the Education Committee. Heibormi Samati and Tobias Shylla hold seats on the Food Committee. Pynkmenlang Suchiang leads the Publicity Committee with Eddy Jefferson Tang and Pius Suchiang supporting the effort. Rounding out the appointments, Aplang Lamare manages the Finance Committee, while Romio Pakem handles the Media Committee.
Local politicians and party members crowded the hall to signal their support. MDC Madonbai Rymbai showed up alongside representatives from various Block Congress Committees and the Mahila Congress. The group looks to solidify its regional presence. Pala noted the importance of the new appointments, stating, "The newly constituted district body will be led by Rishot Thubru as president."
