Meghalaya Assembly Autumn Session Returns to Rilbong

Shillong: Meghalaya’s Autumn Session heads back to Rilbong. The temporary chamber will host the lawmakers again. The new Assembly building at New Shillong remains unfinished. This move kills hope for a relocation.

Governor CH Vijayashankar summoned the assembly for 10 am on August 24, 2024. Officials have not set an end date for the session yet. The Business Advisory Committee will gather on July 31 at 11 am to finalize the schedule. The meeting takes place in the Speaker’s Chamber at the Police Bazar Assembly Secretariat.

The committee must determine the number of sittings and the legislative business. Earlier, the Speaker promised the new facility would be ready. It was not. As the project drags on, officials are defaulting to the old site. The assembly confirms the shift to avoid further uncertainty.
