Imphal: Manipur put its GI-tagged Chak-Hao black scented rice and Chak-Hao Angouba white scented rice on the main stage at the Bharat International Rice Conference 2026. A chef cooked Korean-style kimbaps live at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event runs from October 23 to 25. The rice's natural stickiness makes it a top choice for sushi or kimbap rolls.

Director of Agriculture Peter Salam led the state delegation. Entrepreneurs and Farmer Producer Organisations joined the effort to boost the profile of indigenous crops. Organisers at the Indian Rice Exporters Federation brought together industry experts to talk trade and innovation. The demonstration turned heads. Officials hope to push these products into new urban markets.

State representatives want to help local growers find better prices. Innovation is the goal. "The initiative also highlighted opportunities to develop value-added products and expand the market reach of the state's agricultural produce," said the conference report. This strategy aims to link rural farmers to big-city buyers. It keeps traditional roots while hunting for profit.
