Imphal: Manipur is kicking off a statewide campaign called Reform Utsav. The State Level Nodal Agency for Watershed Management plans to run the initiative from October 2 through December 2026. This push falls under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana Watershed Development Component 2.0.

Rajkumari Sunita Devi serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the agency. She addressed reporters in Imphal on Thursday to outline the strategy. "The initiative aims to strengthen community participation, enhance grassroots outreach in remote areas, and promote transparency," Devi said. The agency wants to pull people into the process.

The campaign packs in Gram Sabha meetings, district exhibitions, and field demonstrations. These events serve to grab community feedback while showing farmers exactly how the scheme helps them. The program has moved past simple soil and water work to focus on creating new ways for people to earn a living.

Funding rates have jumped to hit specific terrain needs. The agency now provides Rs 22,000 per hectare in the plains. In hilly areas like Ukhrul and Senapati, that number climbs to Rs 28,000 per hectare. Officials also cut the project timeline down to three or five years to get results to rural areas faster. Stakeholders must join the effort to lock in long-term water security for the state.
