Imphal: Khurai MLA L Susindro Meitei turned on his own party on Sunday, July 26. He ripped into the Manipur state government for a sharp decline in performance. Governance has stalled since the end of President's Rule in February. The former minister under N Biren Singh says the current setup is failing.

The legislator claims power rests with a tiny clique of ministers. He feels left in the cold. Decisions happen behind closed doors while elected reps get ignored. "The government is run by a few ministers, and we only interact when they call for a discussion on certain issues," Meitei said.

This is a major fracture for the BJP. Meitei warned he might jump ship if things do not change soon. His outburst comes as Manipur struggles to find stability after a long stretch of ethnic fighting. The current administration under Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh faces mounting pressure from within its own ranks.
