Kohima: Longwa leaders declared war on drugs. The village authority implemented a zero-tolerance policy targeting the possession, use, sale, and trafficking of narcotics within the village and surrounding areas. This aggressive stance comes after officials identified drug abuse as a primary threat to local youth, community safety, and the reputation of the region.
Chief Angh of Longwazen Tonyei Phawang spearheaded the move. He consulted with Deputy Anghs, the Longwa Village Council, Longwa Village Gaon Buras, the Longwa Students Union, the Longwa Village Guard, the Longwa Nyupuh Sheko Khong, and the Longwa Baptist Church Youth. The collective warns that no individual is exempt from these measures.
The Media Cell of the Longwa Students Union issued a statement explaining the crackdown. It noted that the decision was taken in view of the serious threat posed by illegal drugs to the lives of young people, the peace and security of the community, and the reputation of the village. Anyone caught breaking these rules faces punishment under both village resolutions and state laws.
Local leadership wants total compliance. They urged residents to stay vigilant, report suspicious behavior immediately, and protect the community from substance abuse. The goal is to keep Longwa a safe, peaceful, and drug-free place for everyone.
