Kohima: Longleng medical teams took healthcare to the rural front lines. The District Health Society hosted a Maternal and Child Health Outreach Camp in Yongam village on September 17. The initiative brought doctors to the people. They served 108 locals during the single-day event.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Thungchanpeni Patton joined pastors and health workers to lead the effort. The team prioritized reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health services. They provided Antenatal Care, Postnatal Care, family planning, and immunization shots. Workers also screened patients for TB and offered general medical checkups.
The CMO office noted the goal was to promote early detection and improve awareness of preventive practices. This camp serves as a vital platform for health education and counseling. These efforts aim to bridge gaps in local medical access. "Such initiatives play a significant role in bridging gaps in healthcare access and strengthening the delivery of primary healthcare services at the grassroots level," the CMO office stated.
