Longleng groups issue seven-day deadline for road repairs

Kohima: Longleng civil society groups have had enough. Under the Phom Peoples’ Council, these organizations issued a one-week ultimatum today regarding the crumbling Changtongya-Longleng road. The project remains in limbo. Commuters face daily danger and travel delays that cripple the district's local economy.

PPC President YB Angam Phom expressed deep frustration with the lack of progress. “The deteriorating condition of the road has caused immense hardship to commuters and has adversely affected transportation, economic activities, and the overall development of the district,” Phom stated.

The groups want results. They are demanding a full inspection report on the project status and a clear explanation for the construction delays. Despite repeated meetings with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, the district administration, and the contractor, the road remains a wreck. The council warned that officials will be held responsible if they fail to act within the week.
