Kohima: Kiphire administrators just launched a 17-member committee to police campus bullying. The group will enforce strict anti-ragging measures across all higher educational institutions in the district. It acts under official guidelines from the University Grants Commission and the Nagaland Government.
The Deputy Commissioner chairs the board. The District Education Officer serves as the Member Secretary. Other officials include the Superintendent of Police, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, and various medical and social welfare heads. The chairman will also appoint representatives from local private and government schools.
The committee holds a big job. It must review how colleges handle awareness, complaints, and disciplinary protocols. They also need to ensure every school sets up its own internal anti-ragging squad. A notification from the Deputy Commissioner stated that the committee has been "constituted with immediate effect" to ensure safety.
This team will bridge the gap between police, schools, and the district administration. They must track reporting procedures and run sensitisation programs for students, parents, and faculty. The Member Secretary will track progress through periodic reports from heads of institutions. These findings move up the chain to the state government.
