Kiphire Launches Anti-Ragging Task Force for Colleges

Kohima: Kiphire district officials set up a 17-member panel to crack down on campus bullying. The District Level Anti-Ragging Monitoring Committee aims to enforce strict oversight in every higher education institution across the district. It starts work immediately.

Deputy Commissioner T. Wati Aier heads the new group, with the District Education Officer serving as Member Secretary. The roster includes the Superintendent of Police, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, and various civil administrators. A government notification stated that the committee has been "constituted with immediate effect in line with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and the Nagaland Government."

The task force carries a heavy load. It must ensure colleges create internal squads and monitoring systems. They will also oversee awareness campaigns and keep tabs on complaint handling. The panel keeps the pressure on schools to report back on their progress.

Officials plan to facilitate better coordination between the police, the local administration, and campus staff. They will also monitor how institutions counsel students and punish offenders. Periodic reports go directly to the state government to guarantee compliance across the region.
