Shillong: Khasi feature film Ki Sngi Badum took third place in the Honourable Mention Feature Film category at the 1st Abohar International Film Festival. The event wrapped up in Punjab this September. Director Moonstar Nongdhar and producer Banabas L Nongbri brought the story to life. It depicts Nongbri’s struggle and his rise as a traditional medicine practitioner.
Cameras rolled in Langtor village and areas near Mairang. The Central Board of Film Certification cleared the project in March 2026. The film features English subtitles for broader reach. Shillong residents can expect a public screening soon.
Nongdhar, known locally as Moon, has built a solid reputation in cinema. His other directorial work, Nga La Ngeit, recently gained global attention. It landed in the top 10 feature films at the 40th International Catholic Film and Multimedia Festival. That event took place in Warsaw, Poland, from September 17 to 20. Moon stated, "The film is based on real events from Nongbri’s life."
The supporting cast features Lamdame M Kharkongor, Sweety Lawriniang, and Steve Mukhim. Thomas Kharsyiemiong and Santa Diengdoh round out the team.
