JNU Professor Bhagat Oinam Named ICPR Visiting Scholar

Imphal: The Indian Council of Philosophical Research appointed Professor Bhagat Oinam of Jawaharlal Nehru University as its visiting professor for the 2025-26 academic year. He starts the role soon. Oinam will tour five universities throughout India to give lectures, spark debate, and push the study of philosophy among scholars and students.

This initiative helps top academics travel to institutions across the country to bolster research efforts. The council plans to cover his domestic travel costs, including flexible airfare, and pay honoraria based on its internal rules.

Oinam recently hit a professional milestone. New York publisher Springer released his new book, "Contours of Indigenous Philosophy (Mapping the Aesthetic and Ethical Works of North East India)," this month. Springer ranks among the top five publishers globally.
