Indian Air Force Airlifts 42 Stranded Passengers from Nagaland

Kohima: The Indian Air Force pulled 42 stranded people out of Namsang on Sunday. Two helicopters flew from Air Force Station Mohanbari in Dibrugarh, Assam, to finish the job. The first bird carried 20 passengers. A second trip airlifted 22 more. Everyone landed at Dimapur Airport safely.

These people were stuck in the Longleng district after monsoon disasters wrecked road access. The group included students who came home for summer break, plus elderly residents, women, and children. The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority requested the support. This marked the fourth day of continuous aerial operations since July 23.

The agency praised the team for their work. They noted the mission showed "exceptional professionalism, dedication and commitment despite difficult weather conditions."

Rough weather still hampers the response. A shipment of 4.5 metric tonnes of essential relief goods sits waiting for a flight. Rain stopped the delivery on Saturday. Officials now monitor the situation alongside the Longleng district administration. Future flights depend entirely on the skies clearing up.
