Itanagar: The India Meteorological Department issued a four-day weather warning for Arunachal Pradesh starting Sunday, September 6. Expect rain and thunderstorms across the state. The State Emergency Operation Centre advised residents in vulnerable, landslide-prone areas to stay alert. Sudden shifts in weather are likely.
On Sunday, rain and thunderstorms will hit West Kameng, East Kameng, Papum Pare, Siang, Upper Siang, East Siang, Namsai, Changlang, Tirap, and Longding. Lightning poses a risk in many of these spots. East Kameng, Papum Pare, Changlang, and parts of Tirap face the heaviest downpours.
Monday brings rain to Tawang, Kamle, Lepa Rada, Namsai, Tirap, and Longding. Thunderstorm activity will target Tawang and Kamle, while Lepa Rada, Namsai, and the eastern districts remain under a weather watch. Conditions continue Tuesday for Kurung Kumey, Lepa Rada, Tirap, and Longding, which face further lightning and thunderstorms.
The wet weather persists through Wednesday. Kurung Kumey, Changlang, Tirap, and Longding remain under observation. Authorities warn that heavy rain and lightning could disrupt daily life. The agency stated, "The IMD warning map has placed the affected districts under alert/watch, indicating the possibility of disruption due to heavy rain, lightning and thunderstorms."
