Itanagar: National Human Rights Commission Special Monitor Prof. Kanhaiya Tripathi visited PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 in Itanagar on Wednesday, October 21. He met with students and staff to discuss human rights education and gender equality. The event drew S. B. Singh from SCERT, Samar Bahadur, and Deputy Registrar Mama Tang of the Arunachal Pradesh State Human Rights Commission. Principal Vinay Kumar hosted the assembly.
The school uses debates, extempore speaking, and Youth Parliament sessions to teach democratic values. These programs foster research, critical thinking, and public speaking. "The principal also highlighted the educational value of initiatives such as Youth Parliament, the National Children's Science Congress and the Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshini, stating that these platforms help students develop skills beyond classroom learning."
Students also engage in science and math work, including trips to NITs and the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology. Programs like Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, PRAYAAS, and PRERNA drive additional learning. The campus maintains accessibility features. This includes ramps and separate washrooms for students with disabilities and girls. Prof. Tripathi stressed that schools must teach respect for equality and human dignity. Samar Bahadur noted that these lessons reach families across the Itanagar Capital Region to ensure a safe, inclusive environment under the National Education Policy 2020.
