Agartala: Frustrated homebuyers staged a protest on Monday at the Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority office in Agartala. The demonstrators, who invested in the Light House housing project near Border Golchakkar, demanded answers regarding years of construction delays.

Buyers reported that they were promised possession of their flats by 2022, yet the project remains unfinished nearly five years later. Many participants noted that they have already paid substantial sums toward their homes, only to face stagnation and broken promises from officials.

The protesters issued an ultimatum to the authorities: either deliver the completed flats immediately or provide a full refund of their deposits with interest. While TUDA officials have now set a new completion deadline of December 2026, many buyers remain skeptical due to the lack of visible progress.

The group appealed for direct intervention from Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha to resolve the standoff. Participants warned that they will launch a more significant movement if the project fails to reach completion by the end of 2026.
