Guwahati: Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport in Guwahati launched its first direct flight to Deoghar on Tuesday, August 4. The new route bridges Northeast India and Jharkhand. It marks a push to boost regional transit. The expansion makes travel faster and more convenient for passengers.
Airport officials marked the start with a ceremony featuring lamp-lighting and cake-cutting. Airline representatives and stakeholders attended the event. The staff gave the first passenger a sapling to mark the day. Organizers said the gift symbolizes growth and new beginnings.
This route connects two key regions. It will likely spark more trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. Deoghar houses the Baba Baidyanath Dham, one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the country. The airport expects a surge in foot traffic from devotees. Airport authorities stated the service is "expected to improve connectivity between Assam and Jharkhand by offering faster and more convenient travel for passengers."
LGBIA now acts as the primary gateway for the Northeast. This flight cements that status. It creates a seamless link across the country.
