Government Signs Tribal Business Pact as Naga Groups Seek Unity

Kohima: The Ministry of Tribal Affairs inked a deal with Nagaland’s E-School of Business on August 7 to drive tribal entrepreneurship. Union Minister Jual Oram, Minister of State Durga Das Uikey, and Secretary Ranjana Chopra attended the signing at Kartavya Bhavan-I in New Delhi. Joint Secretary Anant Prakash Pandey signed on behalf of the ministry. The partnership aims to provide end-to-end support for tribal innovators, covering everything from mentorship to market linkages.

ESB is an incubator under Startup Nagaland. It will help young tribal business owners bridge gaps in finance and technology. Officials believe this ecosystem will turn youth into "job creators" while tapping into traditional knowledge. The project aligns with the Atal Innovation Mission to build sustainable local businesses.

Separately, two Naga factions committed to peace. On August 5, the Government of the People's Republic of Nagaland/NSCN Unification and the GPRN/NNC Apex Body signed an agreement. Nokpao Konyak and Ato Kilonser Alezo Venuh led the NSCN Unification side. Francis Kikon represented the GPRN/NNC Apex Body. They met to strengthen Naga reconciliation.

The groups agreed to prioritize the social and economic development of Nagaland. They pledged to seek a unified political solution with the Government of India. Both factions promised to address public grievances and ensure stability. The parties stated they "stand firm and united" on these objectives to secure a better environment for future generations.
