Shillong: Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita handed out appointment letters to thousands of new government recruits on September 19. The event marked the 20th edition of the Rozgar Mela, held at the State Convention Centre in Shillong. Nationwide, 51,000 young people secured government roles during this latest drive.
The Shillong event, hosted by the Office of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, saw 127 youths from the Northeast receive their job papers. Authorities staged the program simultaneously across 45 locations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the new hires via video link. He congratulated the group and pushed them to work hard for national development.
Margherita touted the scale of the initiative. He confirmed the government has handed out roughly 12.75 lakh appointment letters since the program began. Margherita told the crowd, "I am happy to be part of the Rozgar Mela."
The minister urged the new staff to serve with dedication. He wants these workers to help achieve a developed India by 2047. This push remains a core piece of the Prime Minister’s vision to generate widespread employment opportunities across the country.
