Guwahati: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi blasted the ruling BJP IT cell on August 2. He claims the group is a pit of toxic masculinity. The lawmaker alleged that party supporters target women with rape threats, prostitution-related slurs, and doxxing.
Gogoi contrasted this digital hostility with the recent protests at Jantar Mantar. He noted that young women felt secure among the crowds there. Participants reported that young men provided protection and support throughout the demonstrations. The MP praised this behavior as a display of empathy, strength, and courage. He called this display positive masculinity.
The digital environment tells a different story. Women face constant harassment online, according to Gogoi. He demands accountability for those operating behind the screen. "The perpetrators of this filth should be identified, named and shamed," the MP said. He insists that authorities must expose the individuals responsible for this abuse.
