Shillong: Shillong chef Bryan Kharumnuid is trading his kitchen apron for the runway. The 31-year-old entrepreneur will represent Meghalaya at the fifth annual Global Model India competition. The event takes place in Mizoram on September 28. It is his first time entering a modeling contest.
Kharumnuid wants a change of pace. He spent his career focused on culinary work. "I always want to try something new because being comfortable is boring for me," he said. He leaves Shillong on Monday to join roughly 25 other contestants from across the country.
The competition relies on public backing. Kharumnuid needs votes to boost his standing. He is asking supporters to download the One Zoom app to cast a free vote on the official event page. He also requested prayers from the people of Meghalaya as he prepares to hit the national stage.
