Guwahati: Floodwaters destroyed homes in Nazira, Assam. Two families lost their access to their houses and were forced to hold funeral rites on a roadside. The tragedy hit hard. Ratul Saora died attempting to rescue Rahena Ara Begum during the disaster. The death left both families mourning in the midst of wider wreckage.
The Bir Lachit Sena organized the roadside ceremony. Local residents, journalists, and social worker Imdad Ali provided additional aid. The community showed up to assist the grieving families. This joint effort ensured that the rites took place with dignity despite the flooding. Observers noted that the event stood as an example of unity.
