Guwahati: Police registered an FIR at the Kaliabor Police Outpost against Nazira MLA Mayur Borgohain. The complaint follows alleged threats directed at Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi. Raijor Dal vice-president Pradip Kumar Barua filed the report.

Borgohain supposedly made the remarks during a public programme in the Nazira Assembly constituency on August 22. Barua discovered the speech after viewing media footage. The complaint alleges that the MLA stated he rejects Mahatma Gandhi's principle of non-violence in favor of Nathuram Godse's ideology.

Barua claims the speech signals a clear threat of physical assault against Gogoi. He warned that such words from an elected representative could trigger violence and retaliation. The Raijor Dal leader cited the current climate, noting that the political environment suffers from what he described as "political pollution" which is having an adverse impact on society.

The complainant possesses the video footage and has urged officers to collect all relevant evidence. He demanded that police register the FIR under applicable laws and launch immediate legal action. He insists this rhetoric encourages people to take the law into their own hands.
