Kohima: The Federal Government of Nagaland issued a directive on September 9 telling the public to ignore the ongoing census. This decision came following a meeting of the Council of Kilonsers. The governing body labeled the census as a tool for counting the Indian population rather than serving the interests of the Naga nation.
Officials issued a formal notification to the general public. They want everyone to abstain from enrolment in the census drive in the future. The FGN remains firm in its stance. By avoiding the process, they aim to distance their people from state-led registration efforts.
