Nineteen Militants Defect to FGN in Dimapur

Kohima: Nineteen militants defected to the Federal Government of Nagaland, known as FGN Sukhai Awomi, in Dimapur. The defectors left the NNC/GDRN Khimukum faction and the GPRN/NSCN U group. They switched sides. The group included high-ranking officers and lower-level personnel.

The Ministry of Information and Publicity listed the new arrivals. They are Thongliba, Eangba, Akei, Sheilo, Anok, Shellen, Akai, Tremzu, Shellen Akai, Amoi, Nokyeang, Andan, Awang, John Konyak, Wamei, Anok, Anki, Menseng, and Omega. Ranks range from colonels and majors to lieutenants and razou peyus.

The FGN leadership praised the move. They stated the decision was "driven purely by their commitment and belief in the political ideology of FGN (Sukhai Awomi) and to further strengthen the case for Naga sovereignty."
