Kohima: The Narcotic Cell of the Nagaland Excise Department confiscated 2,460 bottles and cans of Indian Made Foreign Liquor throughout August. The haul is worth approximately Rs 1.95 lakh. Officers made the seizures during mobile vehicle checks and routine patrols on the Kushiabil four-lane road, major highways, and various spots around Dimapur.
This crackdown targets the illegal possession, transportation, and sale of booze. The department operates under the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act of 1989 and the NDPS Act of 1985. The Narcotic Cell stated that its enforcement drive is part of its ongoing efforts to curb the "illegal possession, transportation and sale of liquor."
The Mobile Squad and District Excise units are working the streets under their respective Superintendents. Officials warn that these operations will persist. "Regular detection and checking activities will continue in the coming days," the department announced. They urged operators to stop all illegal business immediately.

Separately, the Dimapur electrical division announced rolling power outages across the city. Executive Engineer Lhuvoyi confirmed that crews are pulling new lines and installing distribution transformers under the revamped distribution sector scheme. The department expects these shutdowns to persist in work zones until all infrastructure upgrades are finished.
