East Dimapur Council Cracks Down on Overpricing

Kohima: The East Dimapur Town Council is putting local businesses on notice. Its Rate Control and Quality Maintenance cell issued a blunt warning to every shopkeeper, wholesaler, and retailer operating within its jurisdiction. Cut the overpricing.

The council demands all establishments stop selling goods above the Maximum Retail Price. They also outlawed stocking expired items. Officials will now conduct regular inspections to catch violators in the act.

The council warned that anyone ignoring these rules will face consequences. Offenders will be hit with penalties and fines. The EDTC stated that any individual or establishment found charging above MRP or selling expired goods would face "strict legal action, including penalties and fines."

Town officials want fair trade. They expect full cooperation to protect consumer rights across the region.
