Kohima: East Dimapur Town Council took their water conservation drive to local streets Wednesday. Councillors spent the second day of the campaign talking with shopkeepers and business owners about the need to harvest rainwater. The effort runs under the national Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain 2.0 program, managed by the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
Vendors and public participants took a formal pledge to save water. They committed to the idea that every drop carries weight. This collective push aims to stabilize local water supplies for the long haul.
Nearby in Chümoukedima, town officials gathered at the DC Conference Hall for a separate awareness session. Er. Khriengunuo Theunuo, EAC (HQ) at the DC Office, chaired the meeting. Experts laid out the technical side of the mission. Executive Engineer Hutovi Swu from the Water Resources Department and Junior Engineer Longchendi Wati Longchar of the PHED explained practical ways to save water at home and within the community.
Lhousito Khro, the Chümoukedima Town Council chairman, wrapped up the event with a call to action. He told citizens, "encourage citizens to actively adopt rainwater harvesting practices and work collectively to protect water resources for future generations."
