Kohima: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) demands immediate action against businessman Nirmal Jain. They cite a complete lack of progress in the investigation into his alleged land fraud. Authorities cancelled Jain’s Indigenous Certificate after confirming it was obtained fraudulently. However, the land acquired through that certificate remains untouched. No legal scrutiny has targeted the properties. Silence reigns.
More than two months have passed since the filing of the First Information Report. No charge sheet exists. No public updates have been issued. The union warns that this delay erodes public confidence in the rule of law. The DNSU claims the case is backed by substantial documentary evidence. This includes proof of forgery, criminal conspiracy, and illegal land deals. They fear the accused is using this window to shield himself from the law.
The union expressed frustration with fellow citizens who support Jain. "It is painful to witness fellow Nagas supporting an individual accused of exploiting the very lands that belong to our people, our children and future generations," the DNSU stated. They reject claims that their movement targets specific groups. Instead, they focus on existential threats to Indigenous identity and land ownership. The union recalled past inaction in a similar case involving Girdharlal and Sanjay Sharma.
The DNSU issued a final appeal to the government and investigative agencies. They demand an end to the favoritism toward wealthy suspects. If the authorities stay inactive, the student body promises to take matters into its own hands. They are prepared to face any consequences for defending Naga land rights. The union posed a final, pointed question to officials: "Will the law act against those accused of exploiting Naga land through fraud, or will it instead act against those who dared to defend it?"

The union is now demanding that investigators broaden their scope. They want the probe to target the suspected benami transactions and the wider criminal network fueling this illegal land business. The DNSU also pointed toward the protections guaranteed under Article 371A, noting that these rights represent the hard-won sacrifices of their ancestors to keep Naga land and identity intact.
The student body also called out the role of local facilitators in these deals. They are demanding answers on who exactly helped non-indigenous individuals navigate the legal requirements for land acquisition. The union warned the public against being swayed by rumors or propaganda spread by those with a vested interest in silencing them.
