Kohima: The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union is cracking down on tardy bureaucrats. Following mounting complaints about late arrivals and early departures, the student body plans to conduct unannounced inspections at government offices and public institutions across Dimapur. They want workers at their desks.
The union issued an official notice on August 25 demanding strict adherence to set working hours. Their goal is simple: ensure the public gets the service they pay for. The group noted that absenteeism hampers the delivery of basic services to students and everyday citizens.
"Such practices can affect the timely delivery of public services and cause inconvenience to citizens, students, and visitors," the union stated. Officials must now document any field duty or authorized leave clearly. The union expects staff to maintain professionalism and accountability during their shifts.
Monitoring will be regular. The group intends to gather feedback while observing how departments function on the ground. Any identified issues will be reported directly to higher authorities for action. The DNSU is calling for full cooperation from department heads to fix these administrative gaps.
