Agartala: Tripura’s Cosmopolitan Club has kicked off a major sanitation campaign to clinch the 2026 Mukhyamantri Swachhta Puruskar. The club, a staple in the capital, launched the effort this past Sunday. Members hit the streets, visiting nearly 200 households to pass out hygiene tips. They want folks to stop littering and start handing off trash to designated sanitation workers.
This initiative follows a direct push from Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. The club plans to keep the momentum going for two months. It is all about local action. As a club authority told reporters, "We are responding to the call of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. This drive will continue for two months, with the aim of building a cleaner and healthier society."
The state has ramped up its own hygiene standards throughout 2026. Officials now track district rankings and run a new Swachhata App to monitor progress. Top-performing groups stand to win up to 3 lakh rupees in prize money. The club hopes this weeks-long effort proves that residents can lead the charge on civic duty and keep their surroundings clean.
