Churachandpur Hosts Massive Run For Unity To Fight Drug Abuse

Imphal: Churachandpur District Police staged the Run for Unity 2026 under the theme, "Say No To Drugs, Choose Health, Choose Life, Together For A Safer, Stronger Society." Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar flagged off the 10K race at Forest Gate Traffic Point in Tuibong. Superintendent of Police Gaurav Dogra watched as the crowd surged forward.

The course wound through Lanva, Gangpimual, and Pearsonmun before hitting Tipaimukh Road and ending at Peace Ground. Authorities deployed 250 police officers to control traffic and manage the route. More than 3,000 people showed up to run. Most of them were young. About 80 percent of the participants fell between 16 and 23 years old. The youngest runner was 12, while 63-year-old Telsing Ngamkhokhai was the oldest.

Md Rahish Khan took first place in the men's division, with Benjamin Seiminthang Baite in second and Khulakpam Mustakim in third. Lhingdeikim Kipgen won the female category, followed by Baby Veineiting and Hatneichan Haokip. SP Gaurav Dogra handed out cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000, and Rs. 5,000 to the podium finishers. The first 200 runners earned medals, and every participant received a certificate.

Runners traveled from Kwakta, Sangaikot, and Singngat to attend. Officials from the District Administration, ITBP, and local police joined the masses. The event aimed to boost public health, improve relations between police and citizens, and push local youth toward police careers.
