Imphal: The Committee on Tribal Unity is pushing for a cold, hard investigation into an August 17 attack on vehicles belonging to Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho and the Paomei Naga Tsiidoumai. The violence occurred at Namdilong near Kanglatongbi. Officials labeled the incident deeply shameful. It raises serious concerns about the safety of elected leaders.

Dikho has spent months pushing for peace and reconciliation among Christian tribes. He stepped up after the May 13 murder of three church leaders. He also led state delegations to Senapati to break a blockade on vital supplies, working alongside Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and the Home Minister. CoTU wants those behind the attack in handcuffs immediately.

The group slammed the Liangmei Naga Council for its version of events. They noted the vehicle carried clear PNTM identification. "Who spread the misinformation, and why?" the committee asked. They want to know if this was a random act or a deliberate strike based on tribal identity.

CoTU also rejected rumors linking Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen to the separate Langka incident, demanding real evidence over gossip. They further called for a probe into the burning of Lanchah, Kultuh, and Phaimol villages in the Phungyar constituency, questioning if local MLA Leishiyo played a role. The committee argues the state holds Kuki-Zo MLAs to different standards than others. They insist the government must provide facts and accountability instead of playing politics with ethnic divisions.
