Chandel Hospital Launches Digital OPD Token System

Imphal: District Hospital Chandel launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission Scan and Share system on Thursday. It is the first hospital in the Manipur hill districts to use this technology. Patients now generate OPD tokens by scanning a QR code to bypass long queues. Deputy Commissioner Hemant Kumar oversaw the launch during a ceremony held at the hospital.

The event also honored the 2025-2026 Kayakalp Award winners. Officials celebrated high performance across the region. District Hospital Chandel took home the award in the Eco-Friendly Category. PHC Komlathabi and AAM Khubung Khullen also secured wins. Several other centers, including CHC Chakpikarong, received commendation certificates for their work.

Deputy Commissioner Hemant Kumar praised the hospital staff. He noted the goal of the award, stating, "Kayakalp means transforming the system completely so that it serves its purpose to the optimum."

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joyson Mathew Monsang presided over the ceremony. Medical Superintendent Dr. Serbum Shakchung Moyon served as the guest of honor. Dr. Moyon urged staff to support patients who lack smartphones or tech literacy. IT Nodal Officer Pungsungbam Ibomcha Singh explained the technical benefits to the crowd. Village chiefs and health society representatives attended the program.
