Agartala: The social organization Bru Sangrangma Mothah has formally objected to the ongoing census of the Reang tribal community. During a press conference in Birchandramanu, the group raised concerns over the methodology employed by the PTGB Department, labeling the current survey process as poorly planned and inherently flawed.

General Secretary Khanaram Riang reported that the organization submitted a written complaint regarding the census but has yet to receive a response. The group is now urging Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and Minister Shukla Charan Noatia to intervene immediately. They argue that surveyors unfamiliar with the local language and culture will inevitably collect inaccurate data, which could lead to significant administrative complications.

The organization is demanding greater transparency, specifically questioning which agency received the contract for the survey and how the project is being funded. They have alleged that the hiring process for surveyors lacked proper accountability. To ensure the accuracy of socio-economic and cultural data, the group insists that the census should be led by or conducted in consultation with local Reang organizations.

Bru Sangrangma Mothah warned that the government must take corrective action to prevent long-term negative consequences. They have proposed that the state government replace the current agency with a local organization capable of conducting a fair and reliable enumeration of the community.
