Kohima: A splinter group of the NSCN (IM), calling itself the NSCN/GPRN Eastern Flank, has set up a Provisional Government. The move follows an Extraordinary Joint Emergency Meeting of national workers and Naga Army officers at Mt Horeb Camp on July 21. Lt Gen (Retd) Hs Ramsan chaired the session. The group aims to govern until a full-fledged administration is established.
Ikato I Chishi Swu will lead as chairman. The core team includes Hs Ramsan, Victor Angami, A Raman, Dani, and Angyo Jacob Jingseya. Advisors include Ngaranmi Jagoi, Merry Ramsan, and Rev Vitovi Yeputho. These leaders will take an oath of allegiance overseen by an ordained minister.
The group declared recent expulsion orders null and void. These orders targeted several leaders on June 24 and July 7. The faction claims these expulsions were meant to silence veterans and push a piecemeal solution. Edward Sayai, Additional Secretary to the NSCN/GPRN, stated, “Those who had surrendered and yielded to the pressure of the Government of India had no authority to expel those continuing to pursue the sovereign existence of the Naga nation.”
The Eastern Flank rejected the competencies submitted by NSCN (IM) to the Indian government. They claim these proposals violate the group's manifesto and the Yehzabo by forcing the Naga cause into the Union of India. They further alleged the Indian government betrayed the August 3, 2015, Framework Agreement by issuing a three-month ultimatum in 2019 regarding the Naga flag and constitution.
Despite warnings from Th Muivah on November 7, 2024, about resuming armed resistance, the faction claims the Hebron leadership continues to negotiate compromised terms. The group asserts the ceasefire is effectively dead. They promised to continue both political and armed resistance to achieve sovereignty. The faction now calls on the public and fellow workers to join them in building a unified national government.
