Boxer Lovlina Borgohain Protests Omitted Indian Territory on Glasgow Napkins

Guwahati: Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain sparked a controversy in Glasgow after finding an inaccurate map of India on restaurant napkins. The incident occurred at Mister Singh's India: The Home of Curry. Members of the Indian boxing contingent visited the restaurant following their campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026. The paper napkins featured an outline map that excluded the nation's Northeastern region and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The boxing star reacted fast. She demanded that the restaurant correct the display immediately. "The map on the napkins is missing our Northeast. Every part of India is important and should be represented," Lovlina said. The omission hit home, as several members of the Indian boxing squad hail from the Northeast.

The Boxing Federation of India intervened. Officials labeled the map unacceptable and pushed for the restaurant to remove the napkins from circulation. They lodged a formal complaint with both the management and local authorities. The BFI stressed that misrepresenting sovereign boundaries is never okay, especially while athletes compete on a global stage. This dispute follows Lovlina’s successful run at the Games, where she clinched a silver medal in the women's 70kg boxing event.
