BJP Nominates Sharda Devi for Rajya Sabha Election from Manipur

Imphal: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated its Manipur State President, Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, as the party’s candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election from Manipur.

The decision was approved by the BJP’s Central Election Committee as part of the party’s preparations for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections and by-elections scheduled to be held in 2026.

Sharda Devi, who currently heads the BJP’s Manipur unit, has been actively involved in the party’s organizational activities and political affairs in the state. Her nomination is being seen as a recognition of her contribution to strengthening the party’s presence in Manipur.

Party leaders and supporters have welcomed the announcement and expressed confidence in her candidature. If elected, Sharda Devi will represent Manipur in the Upper House of Parliament.

The Rajya Sabha election is expected to take place later this year in accordance with the Election Commission’s schedule.
