Shillong: Anjana Jhunjhunwala Saraf filed an FIR at the Sadar Police Station on July 30. She accuses four neighbors at Gayatri Residency of a two-year campaign of harassment, assault, and voyeurism. The accused include Manish Pasari, Radha Pasari, Jayashree Pasari, and Satyanarayan Pasari.
Saraf alleges the group subjected her to constant mental torture. Tensions boiled over on July 27 when Manish and Radha Pasari allegedly destroyed her shoe rack and potted plants in the common area. Saraf, who has vitiligo, claims the group frequently targeted her with derogatory slurs regarding her skin condition.
Privacy concerns top the list of grievances. Saraf claims the neighbors installed a CCTV camera aimed directly at her front door to film inside her home whenever it opens. She called the setup a clear act of voyeurism that causes her ongoing distress.
The situation turned physical during a recent confrontation when Satyanarayan Pasari allegedly assaulted her. Meanwhile, Manish Pasari supposedly invoked the name of a senior minister to intimidate her. Saraf stated, "I fear for my life due to the ongoing threats." Police visited the site to document property damage, but Saraf claims the harassment continued even while officers were present.
This is not the first time the Pasari household faced legal trouble. Businessman Jiwat Vaswani previously filed an FIR against Manish Pasari for creating a public nuisance during home renovations. Vaswani, whose home sits near the Chief Justice’s residence on Bivar Road, claimed the work made living conditions unbearable.
